I am Janelle Romero.  A self-taught artist.  In 2009, I picked up some graphite, charcoals, and pastels and just started drawing, doodling things that I dreamt or found interesting to me.   Then in 2011, I picked up a canvas and some Liquitex paints and painted my godfather a sunset.  That’s when painting seemed to come naturally to me.

I painted for myself to work out realities such as joys, dramas, and great losses.  One of which was the tremendous grief when I lost my Grandpa to cancer (I called him Dad since he was more father to me) from watching him daily suffering, then to realizing he was gone, it was heart and mind crushing.  To work through it all, I painted.  I started showing my art a few years ago to others.  Then I sold my first painting in June 2015, then another canvas a month later,  The defining moment to me was the extreme personal gratification when my art affects someone else and touches them deeply, expressing their feelings they have when they see it, or when it leaves an impression on them.  I feel a great sense of contentment, fulfillment and an extreme sense of satisfaction knowing a piece of me is living in the house of another.

So I decided to put myself out there October 2015 and created my first website.  Alone I sat and thought what I would like to see and hear from another.  As personal as one’s art is I was reserved, then reminded myself art is in the eye of the beholder.  Enjoy!

I find a sense of peace when I create a piece of art. I continue to draw inspiration from music, ideas, dreams, and colors.  My current mediums for painting are Liquitex & Golden – soft & heavy body acrylic paints, Golden fluid acrylics, Liquitex Ink, Liquitex acrylic spray paints, a variety of Golden & Liquitex “effects” mediums (such as pastes, gels, and pouring mediums). I also use watercolors, pastels, graphite, and charcoals.
